Jonathan and I were going to a Trenton Thunder game with a bunch of people I work with, but beforehand we wanted to meet up with some he works with for a happy hour. The place is pretty much next door to the stadium, so it worked out really well. We parked in between the two, then walked back and forth.
I was kinda skeptical of KatManDu, because although we've seen it a dozen times, we've never been inside, and it doesn't look all that exciting from the front. However, it turned out to be a pretty cool place.
Cover was $5, and that includes a buffet, so nothing wrong there. The music was live, and pretty good. The sets could have been arranged better, but perhaps it was just that musician... who knows. The drinks were reasonably priced, but I was kinda iffy on the food since the price was so low. However, there was no need to worry!
I started with the mashed potato bar, where you have a choice of regular or sweet, and all kinds of toppings. I chose cheese, onions, bacon, and sour cream. It was dished out by a server, and served in a martini glass! The only downside: you can't get it all because of the shape of the glass.
The meats and sides station had the assumed crudites and fruit plate, but also had hot roast beef and a few other options. There was also a chili area. The dessert station featured deep-fried pretzels, and a chocolate fountain. For dippers, there were rice crispies treats, strawberries, marshmallows, oreos, and a few others.
There was also a nachos station, a stir-fry station, and a pasta bar. We didn't hit those, mainly because of the lines. If we had more time before the baseball game, we totally would have... well, I know I would have tried the pasta and Jonathan would've tried the stir-fry!

JB Dawson's
Jonathan had a business lunch at JB Dawson's shortly after we moved here, but was rushed on the food part. We both went there once, but they only had one television and FSU was playing, so we had to go elsewhere (Langhorne Ale House). We have friends who are always recommending their happy hour, so we decided to give that a try.
It's a small chain (three locations, all in PA) with a decent-sized menu. The place is pretty big, and was decently busy on a Tuesday night. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were pretty friendly. They make a good airhead (cranberry juice & peach schnapps, but beware they don't count it as a "well drink" in their happy hour special), and they have half-price appetizers from 5-7pm as well. We had Italian fries ($2!!), ahi tuna, and a half-pepperoni-half-tomato-and-basil flatbread. The fries were pretty good in flavor, but they're the super-skinny, kinda floppy fries, so I don't know that I'd get them again. The ahi tuna was good for half-price, but I wouldn't have paid full price. There was a strange mustard-horseradish-something sauce drizzled on it that I wasn't too fond of. The flatbread was really good, and I'd recommend both flavors.
Our friends have had many of the appetizers, and didn't have any that they wouldn't recommend, so the place is pretty much a winner up to this point. The burgers and ribs look good, too, so we may be back.

Friends Bar & Grille
The "younger crowd" at Jonathan's work put together a Happy Hour after work at Friends Bar & Grille in Newtown. We got there shortly before 6 and they were just getting a table together, and a small group was still there when we left at 8:30. The grand total was probably about 14, which was good.
We had some good food. I adored the fries that accompanied my chicken parmigiana sandwich, but the chicken itself was very bland, and the sauce very runny. Jonathan went in on a pizza with Andrew, a thin crust cheesesteak pizza. I had a bite and it was quite good. The guys each had three pieces, so it must have been good, too! Jonathan and I also shared a crock of the french onion soup... the broth was good and there was plenty of cheese, but the presence of sesame seeds no the bread was an undesirable addition.
They also have a lot of beers on tap, but we didn't have any.

St. John's Bar & Grill
A bunch of us went to Happy Hour at St. John's Bar & Grill. I really liked the place. There was a large outdoor area, and a maze of tables utilizing all the interior space as well. We had our own little corner, and all appetizers were half-price from 4-10pm! This made for a great deal on great food. There were a bunch of us there, so the appetizers just kept coming! We didn't finish everything (I don't know that we even came close), but I'd definitely recommend most of the stuff that we tried.
- the bacon and cheese fries were fantastic. Cheddar & jack cheeses, sour cream, green onions, fresh crispy bacon, good deal all around. I loved them.
- deep-fried zucchini was pretty average. you kinda hafta like zucchini. I also don't care for hot cream cheese, which is what accompanied the veggie.
- jalapeno poppers were stuffed with cheddar instead of cream cheese, and they went fast (and there were multiple plates of those!). Jonathan enjoyed them, I didn't give them a try.
- calamari strips were the new item that week, and were really large pieces, instead of the small ones that you usually get. They were served with lemon (which they needed) and cocktail sauce, no tartar (is tartar just an east coast thing, or was I just spoiled when I ate them, LoL?).
- my personal favorite was the chicken quesadillas. Cheese, onions, chilies were inside. Salsa and sour cream were available in large portions, and the guacamole was among the top 5 I've ever had. AND they were only like $4.25 during the special, and you get a HUGE plate of them!!
There were probably a few other things on the table, but these are what stand out in my memory. As we left, I remarked that it was too bad we found the place so late in our stay, I would've liked the chance to go there again.

Happy Hour at Faultline Brewing Company
Two weeks after we moved to California, the ELDPs (the program that Jonathan is in which allowed us to move out here) had a get-together at Faultline Brewing Company. Ten people came - 6 ELDPs and 4 significant others. It was nice to meet some new people, and try a new place. I had pear cider, which was delicious. It's kind of exactly what you'd expect, but a bit crisper in taste. Jonathan tried Indian Pale Ale, which tasted like any other beer to me. We had the pork-and-shrimp potstickers with chili-mint rice as an appetizer, and it was quite good. If you like a crisp potsticker, you might be a little disappointed, but the insides are very flavorful. As an entree, we both ordered the Smoked Chicken Penne, but I ordered it without mushrooms. I found it to be overly-smoky, and the garlic in the brie sauce was undetectable. Jonathan found it just right, and devoured the sauce. We combined leftovers and I had them for dinner the next night (while Jonathan had our leftovers from La Costena).
